Senior Student Sponsorship Programme

"One to one" senior student sponsorship programme has been a core service of U-Hearts for years. After approval, we promise to sponsor the students from senior one to three in RMB1,700 (HKD2,000) per year and three years in total RMB5,100 (HKD6,000).
Remarks: The annual sponsorship fee for student is reviewed and determined regularly by the volunteers of student sponsorship group.

Apart from sponsorship, volunteers make visits to the sponsored students regularly to give them support and encouragement to nurture their growth and character development. In some areas, volunteers make visits to senior three students before entrance examination of universities/tertiary institutes to encourage and relieve their stress.

Approval Criteria for Application:

• The family income of students is lower than the national rural income index.
• The schools recommended the students with excellent conduct and academic results.
• The priority will be given to single parents and parents with long term illnesses or disabilities.

Monitor Method:

• All sponsorship fee received need to be signed by the parents, school and the Education Bureau
• The sponsorship fee will be remitted to the local education bureau or school and need to return the official receipt.
• The sponsored students’ each semester academic result will be submitted by the school for our verification and ensure them to attend daily classes.
• Volunteers visit to the schools regularly each year to encourage and support the sponsored students to study hard.

With the support of volunteers, continuous improvement has been seen in students’ academic performance. We have witnessed more and more students being admitted to universities/tertiary institutes of third batch or above such as Tsinghua University, the qualified students can apply a one-off subsidy. The subsidy is vary in different provinces from RMB1,000 to 3,000 to subsidize on expenses on travelling and initial admission fees. The volunteers of each student sponsorship group to raise fund for the annual subsidy.

Statistics on Sponsored Senior Secondary Students

From 2007 to 2022, we have sponsored 4,697 senior secondary students, the total sponsorship amount is nearly HKD7.486 million.
